Pregnant and Postpartum Program

Project COPE's Pregnant and Postpartum Program is an individualized inpatient residential substance abuse program that comines individual and group counseling for substance abuse, vocational planning, and becoming a mother. Women attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, Narcotics Anonymous meetings, and in-depth COPE house groups centered on mother and child.

COPE's residential home provides a therapeutic living environment that creates structure to encourage acceptance of individual responsibility. The Pregnant and Postpartum Program is specifically designed to help women work toward achieving a sober, healthy, productive life for themselves and their children.

Services Provided

Inpatient Care:
 Counselors assist in creating and managing an individualized treatment plan.

Case Management: Project COPE supervises one-to-one individualized counseling. Weekly individual counseling is incorporated with dynamic group counseling sessions.

Environment: COPE supplies mothers and mothers-to-be with a safe environment to devleop into successful, nurturing mothers.

After Care Plans: COPE staff will assist in forming individualized after care and replapse prevention plans.

Common Treatment Goals

•  Begin family therapy
•  Take parenting classes
•  Learn ways to nurture self and child
•  Learn basic skills such as changing a diaper, caring for common colds, and
    activities to do 
with children
•  Obtain high school diploma through GED or schooling
•  Career planning
•  College
•  Assistance in handling legal matters such as pending court cases, DSS, etc.
•  Build a strong support system in the AA/NA community
•  Learn positive coping skills
•  Build the proper tools to live a sober and productive life
•  Build self esteem
